Ice Cream Extravaganza to have samples from five vendors
The Walnut Hills Retirement Community will host an ice cream party and resource fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Visitors can tour several Walnut Hills campus life options, gather information from several community resources, and sample ice cream from five local ice cream vendors.
There will be stops at an independent living house at The Meadows, an independent living house at The Commons, the assisted living suites at Evergreen Place, the therapy gym at the Transitional Care Unit and the outdoor pavilion near of assisted living.
“Each of the tour stops will give visitors the opportunity to visit the living options and ask questions about them,” Jodi Dean, director of marketing, said in a press release. “Each of the five stops will also have an ice cream vendor and display stands and representatives from participating community organizations.”
The five participating local ice cream vendors are Miller’s Creamery, Mudd Valley Creamery, Schloneger’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Smith Dairy and Velvet Ice Cream.
More than a dozen community organizations will participate in the Resource Fair. The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to provide medication recovery (old prescription and over-the-counter medications), and the Pomerene Mobile Health Unit will provide free blood pressure checks and have information about other assessments and services they provide.
Other participating providers include Interim Healthcare, Life Care Hospice, Crossroads Hospice, Love Inc., Wayne-Holmes Health, Holmes County Veterans’ Office, Garaway Senior Center, Darb Snyder Senior Center, Springhaven Counseling, Hummel Insurance, Smith-Varns Funeral Home , Community Hospice, Beltone and HealthPRO/Walnut Hills Therapy Department.
The event is free. Transportation between stops will be provided and door prizes will be awarded.
“All attendees who visit each of the Community Resource Exhibits and complete a business card will have their name entered into a draw for multiple door prizes,” Dean added in the release. “It will be a fun day, filled with information and treats.
